Jason Lunn…, a little bit of info

I love to try and fly...
Hello,
my name is Jason Lunn or Lunstone depending on legal circumstance (long story). However I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and pay a level of interest into my life and its workings. I am 37 at the time of writing this and the purpose of this particular blog (my first one) is to document a trip I am embarking on through Asia, Thailand, Malaysia and predominantly the islands of Indonesia.
Background info
Some background info on my life really and the things that have made a difference; As a 10 year old I discovered BMX bikes and was at an age where the television stations were broadcasting Evel Kneviel jumping buses on a motorbike. A a young boy all I wanted to do was fly like he did, so I started building my own version of his ramps to jump from. I made these from scaffold planks, bits of plywood and various other bits and pieces. Instead of buses I lined up all my friends my brother and the local children from the neighbourhood to jump over instead. This passion carried on throughout my teens and I managed to reach a level of ability where I found myself sponsored, receiving all kinds of cool stuff for free, This then lead to regular appearances in National and International publications on front covers and centre spreads for a period that has now spanned over 20 years.
The next big change in my life came upon discovering skateboarding and watching Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi skyrocket out of halfpipes and empty swimming pools. That was it at for me, a period of enlightenment. At that point I stopped riding my bmx and bought a skateboard and dedicated the next 20 years to developing what I believed is one of the greatest artforms of the modern era.
Skateboarding is Harsh! it is the original school of hard knocks, concrete floors steel coping, empty concrete swimming pools and bowls and solid wooden ramps… So harsh on a skaters body, this is the challenge, to overcome all these barriers of the physical world and artistically express myself within the confines of all the sharp hard edges. Skateboarding became my absolute existence ,surpassing all other reasons to live. It was my vision, my desire my passion and my education. Nobody teaches you how to skateboard all learning is autodiadactic (self taught). It is achieved through the development of deconstructive skill sets. Looking at a trick or a specific movement and breaking it down from the whole into the component skill sets and layers to achieve and learn it. This became a way of thinking for me that I have found can be applied to many projects that I have embarked upon throughout my adult life..
Bottom line here, skateboarding and bmx riding hurts, it is an introduction to a life of constant pain, injury surgery and rehabilitation, ignoring doctors advice to stop. Then embracing, lacerations, bruises, torn ligaments cartiledge and broken bones, crutches knee braces and plastercasts as part of the daily process…
We carry on through it all because of the Feeling, yes its all about the Feeeling “that FEELING” you get when you land a new move or a trick for the first time having tried for hours, days, sometimes years,,.. that feeling for me has been the reason to live and the pain has never outweighed the immense satisfaction and rush of that feeling…
Until now..
Now the right knee has all remaining meniscus on one side surgically removed and skateboarding is now too physically painful and as a result I have decided to start surfing and Indonesia is the place and it all starts here. So if you are interested please feel free to comment and watch this space…. thanks jason

Hi Jason. Was not intentionally trying to track you down but the world wide web seems to be a small place
I first ran in to you at Balian River in May 2010, I remember the porridge incident. Funny thing is my girlfriend and I were arguing over whether or not you were Jason Statham, ha! Then while eating breaky at the Novotel in Lombok we saw you again. This was in October of the same year, our second trip of the year to Indonesia. We thought you must have been back to the UK since Balian but now I realise it was one long trip for you.
Now I was googleing surf spots in Lombok and up pops a picture of you surfing, crazy.
Just letting you know we are fans of all your works and we will be back in southern Lombok for 2-3 months in october of this year, might see you round now with your land purchase.
Josh ( NZer living in Byron Bay Australia)
